What You need to play Warcanto
To lead your own band of warriors across the vast continent of Greatland and experience numerous adventures, you will need several elements:
OPPONENT - the most important thing about most games is their social aspect. You simply need another player to fully enjoy Warcanto.
MODELS - another thing you just cannot ignore are the models of characters and creatures taking part in the game. Dwarf Tales Miniatures company will happily support you with suitable miniatures, accurately representing warriors of different races, that will join your warband. As you shall quickly discover, several models should be enough to fight off the satisfactory battle. Of course, together with development of your command skills you will probably want to lead more numerous warband to battle against your opponents.
BATTLEGROUND - depending on circumstances you can play Warcanto in various places - all you need is a flat surface (school desk, kitchen table or a workbench) and a handful of objects representing different terrain features. Of course the most enjoyable games will be played on the specially prepared tabletops with carefully chiseled and painted hills, trees, houses and any terrain features you can imagine... Below you will find an example of such modeled battleground. The ideal battleground should allow you to deploy your troops at least 20" from your opponent's, and we suggest, that the 40x40" tabletop should make up for the most comfortable battleground.
DICE - Warcanto includes the element of probability - almost each action performed by a warrior uses a number (called stat), adequate to the warrior's skill in the given activity, which is randomly modified by the dice roll result - in this way you determine whether the action is successful or not. It represents the fact that even the most skilled marksman sometimes misses his target, and on the other hand - even the miserable underdog is capable of performing the deeds of valour.
Warcanto players should use ten-sided dice, called D10, with numbers from 1 to 10. Some rules and skills use D5 dice - in case you don't have a suitable five-sided dice, simply divide the result rolled on D10 by two, rounded up. Remember - every division result in Warcanto should be rounded up!
MEASURE - all distances in Warcanto are measured in inches, and the best way to determine them is to use the adequate tape measure (or any other measuring device).
MARKERS and TOKENS - in the course of battle many situations, that require you to mark something that has just taken place and is important to remember for further play, will occur. For example: when a warrior is wounded by an enemy attack, you should use blood token to mark the damage he has suffered.
Fair play

One thing you should always remember - Warcanto is a game created to make you enjoy the fantasy world of Duael with friends who share the same hobby. While playing, always follow the rules of fair play. Do not try to win at any cost, as squabbling with your opponent for a fraction of every inch is the best way to spoil even the most tactically fascinating game. And of course avoid cheating - everybody hates a cheater!
